Thank you for visiting the Port Fuels & Materials Services, Inc. Energy-from-Waste site. On this site you will find information about our company, technology and environmental benefits, as well as the Environmental Screening Process currently being undertaken for the permitting of our energy-from-waste facility in Hamilton, Ontario.

PFMSI’s mission is to develop a sustainable, state-of-the-art energy-from-waste facility in the Port of Hamilton that will operate as a flagship of the Gasplasma® technology.

TECHNOLOGY

The Gasplasma® process is an advanced thermal conversion technology developed to treat wastes and to convert them into synthetic gas (syngas).

The core concept of this process is the conversion of waste to a clean syngas that can be used directly for the production of heat and/or for generation of electricity or to substitute natural gas.

FACILITY

.

The proposed EFW facility would receive and process up to 170,000 tonnes per year of non-hazardous wastes using a Gasplasma® process and 30,000 tonnes per year using a conventional direct plasma process.
